Have you or one of your family, friends or colleagues been touched by women’s cancer?
Unfortunately, the sobering statistics mean that all of us do know women who are fighting or have fought a breast or gynaecological cancer (ovarian, cervical, vaginal, vulval and fallopian tube).
Tragically, despite amazing medical advances, too many women we know diagnosed with these cancers still do not survive them.
Our Cause – why we do it
Medical research has already made dramatic improvements, and is the only avenue through which we can prevent more of our loved ones from suffering from these often devastating diseases in the future.
We need world-class medical research specifically targeted to women’s cancers, like that being conducted at the Harry Perkins Institute for Medical Research based in Perth Western Australia.
The dedicated researchers at the Harry Perkins Institute are striving to make pivotal discoveries to reduce the incidence and death from women's cancer, through:
- more sensitive, accurate and earlier detection
- more effective and targeted treatments, with lesser side effects, and
A new Centre for Women’s Cancers Research is being created, with a dedicated Professor in Women’s Cancers driving the research of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and scientists.
The Purple Hearts are dedicated to support the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research in all funds raised to help fight and find a cure for these women’s cancers.
